Garfield (6-2) vs. Roosevelt (8-0) at the Coliseum, 7:30 p.m.: East Los Angeles Classic It will include a halftime party by black eyed peas A crowd of over 30,000 is expected. Roosevelt ended his 10-game losing streak against the Bulldog last season and will try to prove it wasn’t a fluke. The Rough Riders’ two-wing attack was rolling in. Garfield had two weeks to prepare and needed a solid performance from running back Damian Cornejo, who rushed for 1,097 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. Choice: Roosevelt.
Hesperia Oak Hills (8-0) at Apple Valley (7-1), 7 p.m.: The Mojave River League title is on the line in this High Desert team battle. There are some big guys on the line for both teams, including Alabama-bound Raymond Pulido from Apple Valley. Diego Lopez of Oak Hills passed for 1,790 yards and 22 touchdowns. Dustin Reynolds of Apple Valley is a relentless defensive linebacker/backer. Pickaxe: Oak Hills.
