Rivian Electric Vehicles, based out of Irvine, California is recalling nearly every vehicle they’ve made. A loose fastener in the suspension of vehicles will make them unsafe; this affects 12,212 electric pickup trucks, vans and SUVs according to recent paperwork from Rivian submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

On Friday, the Amazon-backed electric vehicle manufacturer sent messages to its customers informing them of a recall. No injuries were reported at this time.

Seven cases of these issues have been noted in the past and fortunately, none of them have caused injury. If you experience any unusual noise coming from the front of your car, we encourage you to contact us right away so we can check it out for you. We will also be setting up pop-up service where many other Rivian drivers live.

The company is able to inspect each of the cars and make any necessary repairs within thirty days. There will be no cost to you, nor will this disrupt our finances.

Rivian is headquartered in Irvine, California but its manufacturing plant is in Normal, Illinois. They also have plans to open a new plant in Georgia and recently announced discussions with Mercedes to produce electric vans together.

Rivian produces the R1T pickup truck, R1S SUV and electric delivery vans for Amazon; this being the third recall in a row according to NHTSA. In August of last year they recalled about 500 vehicles because of an airbag issue, and then again in May when they had to recall another 200 due to seat belt anchor issues.

The current issue effects a nut on the truck front suspension that may not have been tightly enough fastened during manufacturing. Rivian asks you to bring your vehicle in for service at one of their centers where they will inspect and tighten it if needed or even send out mobile units for safety checks. If for any reason, your vehicle has to stay at the shop then there are loaner vehicles available.
